KNOW YOUR RIGHTS |
You are entitled by law to union representation. Don't be misled into thinking you won't need it! If called into a meeting with management, read the following to them before the meeting starts: |
"If this discussion could in any way lead to me being disciplined or terminated, or affect my personal working conditions, I respectfully request that my union representative, officer, or steward be present at this meeting. Without representation present, I choose not to participate in this discussion." |
-
You do not have to write or sign any statement for the Company. If the Company requests you sign a document, put something like "I don't understand" or "I don't agree" or something similar to prevent the company from sneaking unsigned documents in your file at a later time.
-
You must request Union Representation, the Company doesn't have to offer it.
-
When asked a question by the Company, if you don't recall, say you don't recall. (Don't try to fill in the gaps or guess).
-
You have the right to information regarding the subject of the meeting before you participate.
-
You have the right to consult with your Union Representative before and/or during the meeting.
